THAUMATURGY

A Path of Exile 2 League Mechanic Concept
HUNT • HARVEST • CONSTRUCT • CONQUER
"Stupid beast! You are captured!"
"Fascinating. The synthesis is complete."

— Einhar Frey & Tane Octavius
Between the events of Path of Exile 1 and 2, the ghostly Einhar Frey and the alchemist Tane Octavius formed an unlikely partnership. Together, they've created an endless cycle of hunting, crafting, and evolution where players hunt corrupted beasts, harvest their organs, and construct personalized boss encounters that unlock powerful crafting options.
Thaumaturgy combines the hunting prowess of Bestiary with the specimen assembly of Metamorph, creating a league mechanic focused on player agency, risk-reward decisions, and deterministic crafting with RNG elements.

Meet Your Guides

Einhar Frey
Legendary Beast Hunter • Ghost

Enthusiastic, simple in speech but wise in hunting, Einhar sees death as a promotion. His endless pursuit of "the Perfect Prey" has kept his spirit bound to the mortal realm, and now he invites you to join his Great Hunts.

"EXILE! Haha! Welcome to our workshop! Is beautiful, yes? Tane makes the science, Einhar brings the subjects! A perfect partnership!"

Philosophy: The hunt never ends at the skin. The real beast is what's inside.

Tane Octavius
Clinical Alchemist • Researcher

Precise, analytical, and uncomfortable with violence yet fascinated by results. Tane seeks to understand corruption through empirical study, methodically dissecting the impossible to find patterns in chaos.

"These organs are evolutionary responses to impossible conditions. They shouldn't work. But they do. That's the true value here—what we can learn from forcing them to work together."

Philosophy: Science over instinct. Observation over assumption.
